Back in Tip #23, I recommended creating a prospect list. This is a list of customers who you believe are interested in your business but haven’t purchased anything yet.
I want you to pick up the phone and call one (or more) of them. The PHONE. Not email. Not a text.
- Think about how many emails you get each day. Now think about how many phone calls you get each day. Which one is more memorable?
- Phone calls have a higher perceived sense of urgency. How fast do you reply to emails? Maybe within 24 hours or less? Text messages? Maybe an hour or less? What about phone calls? If you know (and like) the person calling and you are free, I bet you pick up the phone immediately.
- It’s so much more personal! One of the main benefits consumers are seeking when they buy from a small business is “that extra personal touch.” Let them know that they are important to you by taking the time to talk to them.
- It results in faster sales. You can get significantly more information from a quick conversation with someone than you can from an email. You can hear their tone to determine their excitement level. You can respond to their questions immediately. If they are interested in moving forward with a sale, you can close the deal on the spot.
Be memorable. Be personal. Pick up the phone and make a call.
