The First Meeting

What should you expect during our first consulting meeting?  It’s going to be pretty casual.  I need to get to know you and your business.  You’re going to want to get familiar with me and my level of expertise.

All businesses have a business plan – but the vast majority have never put their model into writing.  No worries.  I can help you create one.  In fact I insist.  The benefit of creating a business model is that it forces you to look at your business high level, and then break it down into manageable pieces.  Many times, the cause of the struggles you are facing will jump off the page once you take the time to break things down.    Once you’ve identified the problem and the source, we can work on a solution.

During the first meeting, I’ll be taking a million notes.  For the most part, you’ll just be answering basic questions about your business.  Why did you start your business?  Who are your customers?  How are you reaching them?  What do they like about your business? How do you make money?   Who is your competition?

Seems pretty easy, right?  My target consulting customers are small businesses who have probably either never had the time to think about this, or haven’t thought about it for a long time.  Life happens fast.  I’m not here to tell you how to run your business –  I’m here to give you the skills and resources you need to be successful.

After our first meeting, I will use all my notes to put together your written business model.  I’ll also offer my recommendations for how we can move forward to help you reach your goals.  There is no obligation for subsequent meetings.  In fact, it’s entirely plausible that breaking down your business into manageable pieces helped you identify a problem that you already know how to fix.  I’m here to help you.
